Position Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the daily activities of managing and processing company financial information in support of timely and accurate financial records and reporting. These functions and responsibilities are to support Global MPS sites including North America, UK and China. 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

General Accounting:

  • Prepare, review, and post monthly journal entries.
  • Manage fixed assets and track capital expenditures.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Audit transactions and perform ledger entries to ensure accuracy.
  • Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies through data analysis.
  • Recommend and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
  • Analyze accounting options and recommend financial actions.
  • Ensure timely collection of accounts receivable.
  • Coordinate accounts payable processing with Accounting Specialist, including document verification and disbursement requests.
  • Monitor bank balances, manage cash requirements, and support cash flow planning.
  • Prepare cash forecasts and provide strategic recommendations on spending and loan needs.
  • Create and maintain loan documentation and reporting.
  • Develop and manage the annual cash budget.
  • Support the preparation of the annual company budget.
  • Assist with external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
  • Support business insurance renewals, including coverage for personnel, property, and vehicles.
  • File monthly sales tax returns and business license renewals.

Compliance:

  • Contribute to achieving accounting operational standards through participation in strategic planning and process improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations; stay current with legislative changes and guide management on necessary actions.
  • Research and interpret accounting policies to address procedural questions.
  • Uphold financial security by enforcing internal controls.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.

Reporting/Presentations:

  • Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data, preparing reports and presentations.

Miscellaneous:

  • Travel to Subsidiary Sites (California, Toronto, UK, China) as needed.
     

Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with multi-site operations and foreign currency consolidation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.

This position is an on-site role, with 1 flex day per week of remote work.

Compensation Data

Salary range for this role is $85,000/year to $95,000/year. The salary range listed is based on market data and internal benchmarks. Actual compensation may vary depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications.
