Position Summary
Join our dynamic global team as an HR Generalist in our Toronto area office (Markham, ON) and play a pivotal role in supporting a positive, high-performing workplace while advancing your career in a growth-oriented environment. The ideal candidate will support a broad range of human resources functions, including payroll/benefits, recruitment/onboarding support, employee relations, performance management, training, and compliance with Ontario employment legislation. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach, and the ability to handle confidential information with professionalism. The HR Generalist will play a key role in fostering a positive workplace culture and supporting both employees and management in achieving organizational goals. This role will report to the Sr. Human Resources Manager based in our U.S. corporate headquarters in Westborough, MA.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Process bi-weekly payroll using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring accuracy and compliance with provincial regulations.
- Maintain payroll records, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, and deductions.
- Generate and reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Prepare Records of Employment (ROEs), T4s, and other statutory filings.
- Manage expatriate payroll and benefits administration, including immigration support
- Ensure payroll and benefits practices comply with Ontario Employment Standards Act, CRA regulations, and internal policies.
Benefits and Leaves Administration
- Administer group benefits programs including health, dental, vision, leaves of absence, disability, and retirement plans.
- Act as the primary contact for employee benefits inquiries and liaise with providers to resolve issues.
- Partner with brokers and coordinate annual benefits enrollment and support onboarding/offboarding processes.
- Maintain accurate benefits records and ensure compliance with applicable legislation.
HR General Operations
- Support our U.S.-based Talent Acquisition Specialist on recruitment activities and onboarding for the Toronto location.
- Assist with employee relations matters, responding to routine inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with Ontario employment law.
- Support employee engagement initiatives, including new hire acclimation activities.
- Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality and participate in system upgrades or implementations.
- Assist with Talent Management areas such as performance management and training and development initiatives.
- Participate in health and safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requirements.
- Prepare HR-related reports and data for corporate reporting requirements.
- Assist with workplace investigations, legal coordination, and documentation as required.
- Support compliance areas for policy development and audits.
- Provide general administrative support to the HR team and participate in HR projects as assigned.
Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years of payroll and benefits administration under Ontario employment standards.
- Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now is strongly preferred.
- Experience with other functional areas of HR preferred.
- Strong Excel and reporting capabilities.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and confidentiality.
- Experience with HRIS systems such as SuccessFactors is an asset.
Work Environment
This position is an on-site role, with one flex day per week of remote work.
Competencies
Compensation Data
Salary range for this role is $75,000/year to $85,000/year. The range listed is based on market data and internal benchmarks. Actual compensation may vary depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications.
