Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled professional with extensive expertise in managing a diverse range of commodities, with a strong focus on Electronic Components (PCB, Semiconductors, Passives, IC, GaN, and other core components) with a background in global supplier management, new supplier introduction, supplier development, and executing sourcing decisions to support new product introduction and long-term commodity strategy. The ideal candidate for this position will be self-managed and a driven sourcing strategist, with experience in electronics industry, mapping and aligning design and technology roadmaps, experience in creating sourcing strategies, and business acumen to support engineering teams to develop latest technologies through strong vendor base, without capacity constrain, while achieving cost reduction goals. 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a procurement strategy for commodities, including competitive benchmarking and supplier analysis, as well as the introduction of Tier II manufacturers. Understand and communicate supplier technical roadmaps to engineering and various internal MPS organizations.
  • Design Win/Registration control and management, negotiating tiered pricing structures up front, and defining annual cost-out requirements through semiconductor costing models
  • Direct the strategic sourcing process and act as the central point of contact to improve supplier cost/price & performance on assigned spend/commodity at local, regional, and worldwide levels for major commodities.
  • Work closely with product management teams to understand technology requirements across the commodity and various business units. 
  • Define direct material sourcing strategy to support the  establishment of supply chains; maximize current and future market conditions and define contingency planning to mitigate risk. 
  • Interface directly with Finance and the Sourcing Analyst to document real savings that can be communicated throughout the organization. 
  • Develop and maintain supplier performance metrics and manage the QBR process. 
  • Support the execution teams during supply constraints, shortages, EOL’s and all supply issues.
  • Keep informed of key industry, market, and commodity information, including size/scope of commodity, trends, market conditions and best-in-class suppliers.
  • Responsible for new product sourcing to support MPS global design locations. Develop and maintain new product sourcing plans adhering to corporate time-to-market goals
  • Provide BOM cost analysis and work with Engineering, Suppliers and Contract Manufacturers to drive total cost reduction. Experience driving direct material sourcing savings globally.

Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations Management or other related field.
  • 5+ years of Supply Chain/Strategic Sourcing and business/industry work experience focused on electronic components, including advanced technical and business knowledge in the product development life cycle, quality assurance, and project/program management.
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements 
  • Experience owning sourcing strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

Skills and competency required:

  • Electronic components costing experience for Semiconductors, Passives, IC, GaN, and other core components, understanding of wafers, dyes, and manufacturing efficiency improvements.
  • Familiarity with multiple commodities and manufacturing processes in the supply chain.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Able to communicate professionally with internal customers and external suppliers.
  • Ability to set and attain goals and initiate action
  • Fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
  • Good knowledge of various computer applications such as: Strong MS Excel is a must (including: pivot tables, macros, index/match, vlookup, VBA, data links, etc.) and Material Requirement Planning System (MRP).
  • Ability to consolidate, manipulate and analyze large quantities of data.

This position is an on-site role, with one flex day per week of remote work.
